Reaching consensus for asynchronous distributed key generation

چکیده
We give a protocol for Asynchronous Distributed Key Generation (A-DKG) that is optimally resilient (can withstand $${{\varvec{f}}}<\frac{{{\varvec{n}}}}{{{\varvec{3}}}}$$ faulty parties), has constant expected number of rounds, $${{\varvec{O}}}({\varvec{\lambda }} {{\varvec{n}}}^{{\varvec{3}}})$$ communication complexity, and assumes only the existence PKI. Prior to our work, best A-DKG protocols required $${\varvec{\Omega }}({{\varvec{n}}})$$ }}({{\varvec{n}}}^4)$$ communication. Our relies on several building blocks are independent interest. define design Proposal Election (PE) allows parties retrospectively agree valid proposal after enough proposals have been sent from different parties. With probability elected was proposed by nonfaulty party. In PE protocol, we Verifiable Gather which communicate they not seen in verifiable manner. The final block Validated Byzantine Agreement (VABA) protocol. use construct VABA does require leaders or an asynchronous DKG setup. can be used more generally when it possible threshold signatures.

Consensus in Asynchronous Distributed Systems
The distributed consensus problem arises when several processes need to reach a common decision despite failures. The importance of this problem is due to its omnipresence in distributed computation: we need consensus to implement reliable communications, atomic commitment, consistency checks, resources allocations etc. The solvability of this problem is strictly related to the nature of the sy...
متن کاملAsynchronous Distributed ADMM for Consensus Optimization
Distributed optimization algorithms are highly attractive for solving big data problems. In particular, many machine learning problems can be formulated as the global consensus optimization problem, which can then be solved in a distributed manner by the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) algorithm. However, this suffers from the straggler problem as its updates have to be synch...
متن کاملEntropy-based Consensus for Distributed Data Clustering
The increasingly larger scale of available data and the more restrictive concerns on their privacy are some of the challenging aspects of data mining today. In this paper, Entropy-based Consensus on Cluster Centers (EC3) is introduced for clustering in distributed systems with a consideration for confidentiality of data; i.e. it is the negotiations among local cluster centers that are used in t...
متن کاملReaching Consensus via Non-Bayesian Asynchronous Learning in Social Networks
We study the outcomes of information aggregation in online social networks. Our main result is that networks with certain realistic structural properties avoid information cascades and enable a population to effectively aggregate information. In our model, each individual in a network holds a private, independent opinion about a product or idea, biased toward a ground truth. Individuals declare...
متن کاملDistributed algorithms for reaching consensus on general functions
This paper presents analysis and design results for distributed consensus algorithms in multi-agent networks. We consider continuous consensus functions of the initial state of the network agents. Under mild smoothness assumptions, we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions characterizing any algorithm that asymptotically achieves consensus. This characterization is the building block to obt...
